Two New Songs Are Almost Ready
Winnie has been at the notebook nearly every night this month, and we're pleased to say two new songs are very close. They're called Cinnamon and Rumpleforeskin. We know, we know. Please listen all the way through before you decide anything. They are, we think, the most honest things we've sung, and we cannot wait for you to hear them. Join the mailing list and you'll be first.

Thimble No. 200
It happened at the Shelburne flea market, at a table run by a lovely man named Gord. Number two hundred is a little pewter one shaped like a rooster. I cried, of course. Opal says I would cry at a grocery receipt, and she is not wrong.

Old Gladys Gets a New String
The A string on the family ukulele finally gave out after, well, I won't say how many years, because you wouldn't believe me. Put a new one on Tuesday. She sounds a little bright yet, but she'll settle. A ukulele is like a person that way. Give her a week and she comes around.
Lunch break after rehearsal, out by the old plaza.

The Buttercup Passes Safety (Again)
Our 1994 Dodge van cleared her safety inspection Thursday morning, which means we are officially on the road for fair season. The fellow at the shop said, and I quote, "I don't know how, but she's fine." We choose to hear that as a blessing. Bramble Hollow Fall Fair, we'll see you in August.

A Word About the Songs
I don't say much, so I'll keep this short. People ask me what my songs are about. They are about farm life, and about forgiveness, and about looking at a hard true thing without turning away from it. That's all I'll say. The rest is in the singing.
